SULA also undertook the challenge of revitalizing hand embroidery, one of the most cherished and appreciated Italian handicraft specialty – a feminine domain – which is now slowly disappearing. SULA proposed some selected modern art designs to the most skillful embroiderers living in small Italian villages. The outcome is of an astonishing beauty rarely seen before in table-linen.
Here you can see one of the few table runners partially hand embroidered to give evidence to colors and details to patterns inspired by abstract art.
They are “lost jewels”, no more produced.
